The Department of
Accountancy conducted three Programmes in Kathyan Hall in the
College upto 12th
January 2009, primarily for the benefit of our TYBCOM students, and
several more are proposed to be held in February 2009 after the
TYBCOM Preliminary Examination.
The Programmes can be
classified under two groups as follows:
1. Case Studies – One
Programme held on 6th
December, 2008
2. Powerpoint –
Presentation-cum-lecture Series (Revisionary and Advanced). Two
such Presentations were made on 10th
January 2009 and 12th
January 2009.
The 1st
Programme was held on 6th
December 2008. It consisted of a Case Study of the Annual Report of
Dabur India Ltd. for the year ended 31st
March, 2008, especially the Company’s Balance Sheet, Profit and
Loss Account, Cash Flow Statement and important notes to the
accounts. The programme was prepared and presented by students of
TYBCOM class jointly with teachers from Accountancy Department. The
following students from TYBCOM Class read out major portions from
the Company’s Balance Sheet, Profit and
Loss Account, Cash Flow
Statement and important notes to the accounts.

They also raised various
queries based on the Statements read out. These queries were then
taken up by the teachers from Accountancy Department, who explained
the same in detail to the audience of more than 100 TYBCom students.
This Case Study also touch upon related areas outside the syllabus
and of current importance like Corporate dividend tax, negative
Current Ratio of financially strong FMCG Companies etc.
The Powerpoint
Presentation-cum-lecture Series were started primarily to improve
the TYBCom results, which have shown an increasing trend as follows:

For this purpose, two
such presentations were made as follows:
Several more were held in
February 2009 after the TYBCom Preliminary Examination. Both the
Lectures were reasonably well attended with a 100-plus audience.
The Department has utilized advanced
educational tools like Case Study Method and PowerPoint
Presentations during the academic year. The student’s response was
extremely positive.
The active involvement of all the
members of the Department in organizing the above-mentioned
Programmes deserves appreciation.
Special thanks are also due to our Principal Dr.
Mrs. S.A. Singh for the constant encouragement and for personally
attending the Programmes from time to time.
