This year Vyasa Sabha
held its first discussion on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima. The
topic for discussion was Work-Life Balance. In this lecture various
factors that lead to stress as well as the solution to overcome the
same were highlighted.
The second topic of
discussion for Vyasa Sabha was "Psychology of Money". One
fact that everyone agreed was that money does not provide
contentment and satisfaction. It is only a tool for happiness.
The third Vyasa Sabha was
on Book review by Prof D.S. Bhide (Eco.dept). The books selected for
review were Shree Vinda Karandikar’s "Svedaganga" and
Shree Laxmikant Tamboli’s "Sayaswalya".
On 22nd Aug, 08 &
29th Aug, 08 the topics for discussion were "Causes of
Terrorism & Solutions of Terrorism" respectively.
In the sixth Vyasa Sabha,
a lecture on the topic "The Sale of Goods Act, 1930" was
delivered by Prof. D.M. Murudeshwar.
On 15th Sept. 08 &
25th Sept, 08, there was a session of "Poetry Recitation"
in which many staff members actively participated. This session was
popularly addressed as "Me and my poetry".
In the 9th Vyasa Sabha,
Reforms in Result finalization was highlighted. Prof. D. Sable,
Chairperson of Exam committee, of Economics Dept. presented a
summary of modified certificates with hologram indicating a marked
improvement over the previously existing certificate. This reform
would definitely avoid probable malpractices.
This was followed by the
discussion on "Pressing Environmental Concerns." which
also included the topic on sustainable development.
The topic "Food
Culture " was discussed in the 11th Vyasa Sabha. It summarised
various factors which influence our societal food culture.
Beginning of 2009 has
brought a new feature to our Vyasa Sabha, by introducing Sanskrit
lessons for 15 mins at the beginning of every Vyasa Sabha. Prof.
(Mrs.) Mugdha Kulkarni conducted Basic functional Sanskrit Lessons
for the staff members of Degree College on 26th Nov 08, 5th Dec 08,
9th Jan 09, and 23rd Jan 09. These lessons included basic concepts
of spoken Sanskrit such as verbs (present tense), nouns, small
sentences, Sanskrit numericals, and Saskrit verses along with small
Sanskrit stories. The lessons used the modern technology of Power
Point Presentation in the staff room.
