Inaugural lectures were arranged
for S.Y.B.Sc. and T.Y.B.Sc students on 14th June 2006 -on the
first day of reopening of college and for F.Y. B.Sc. students
on 11th July 2006, to explain the rules and regulations of the
college and facilities provided by the college with the use
of audio-visuals.
The
first program of the year 2005 - 06 was Father's day celebration
that was held on 21st June 2005. The theme of the programme
was "You and your relationship with your father".
This programme was recorded and telecasted by Doordarshan's
Sahyadri Channel for the programme "Amchi Shakha Kuthei
Nahin". The programme executive Susan Johns and the Anchors
of the show Dr. Amol Khalls and Mr. Kunal Rege conducted some
Antakshari rounds among the students. Students recited poems
on fathers written by them, there was also a game show based
on father's day and finally the student's described their fathers
in one word. It was an altogether different experience for the
students as well as for staff.
A singing competition was organized
on 3rd December 2005. Mehendi, hairstyle and bridal make up
competitions were held on 23rd December 05. A annual gathering
was held on 4th and 5th January 2006, where the events conducted
were i) Dance, ii) Fashion Show, iii) Personality contest, iv)
Antakshari v) Instrumental vi) Mimicry vii) Rangoli. viii) Fine
arts. In all 23 competitions were conducted for which the number
of participants was 445.
Annual gathering 'Aakansha', was
conducted, by the students for the students. Students participated
right from the preparation till execution of these entire event
under the guidance of teachers. Here students learn about event
management. 'Aakansha' of our college also give the scope to
the students to explore their talents in various fields.
Dramatics
committee
Our students participated in
one act play competition organized by Bhavan's College, Chowpatty
on 23rd September 2005. The students performed very well. The
name of the one act play was "Continuity".
Miss Devyani Deshmukh (S.Y. B.Sc.) bagged Certificate of Merit
for the acting.
Miss Priya Marathe (T. Y. B.
Sc. is playing a role in marathi T.V. serial "Ya Sukhano
Ya". She is also in recipient of the award "Fresh
face of the year". Three magazines have selected her
photo for the cover page
Throughout the year the wallpapers were displayed based
on certain themes. Cartoon competition, Short story competitions
were arranged through this committee.
On 20th January 2006, the magazine "Sanyuja" was published,
with reports of various committees, many articles, and poems
in Marathi, Hindi and English.On the occasion of Centenary celebration
of Albert Einstein, magazine cover page was designed by Mr.
Vishal Kasbe T.Y. B. Sc student to give tribute to Albert Einstein.
Our students met some of the past students to share their views,
and these interviews are published in our magazine, which are
more inspiring.
The activities of Literary Association,
for the academic year 2005 - 06 were started from the month
July 2005. Various competitions were organized for Junior and
Degree college students: Essay Writing, Elocution and debate
in our college. About 25 students participate in these competitions.
Under
this scheme, Zoology Department is offering help to various schools
to complete their science projects for the science congress exhibition
and to satisfy the thirst of school children to gain more knowledge
to some extent. This includes identification of plants and animals;
analysis of water samples, giving guidance for various competitive
examinations and helping them to understand some newly added science
topics from their syllabus. On 13th January 2006 we arranged a
practical session for 6th and 9th std students from various schools
from Thane & Dombivali, appearing for Homi Bhabha Jr. Scientist
competitive examination.

game carom, chess, table tennis and Badminton tournaments were
arranged in the month of December 2005.
College annual sports Athletic Meet
was conducted on 23rd December 2005 at college ground, Junior
& Degree college Boys & girls participated in the Running,
Throwing, Shot-put, and Jumping events. For teaching and non-teaching
staff carom, chess, table tennis tournaments were organized.

Helped in organization of National

Yoga Club organizes yoga classes
for students teachers and non-teaching staff of V.P.M. Institutes,
with the support from Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir, Thane. This year
classes were held from July to October (every Friday and Saturday)
and from November to January (every Wednesday and Saturday
On 12th January
2006 a lecture of Dr (Mrs.) S.A. Singh Principal of VPM's Arts
and Commerce College, was arranged on "Stress Management".
The Programme ended with Question and Answer session in which
students' participation was appreciable.
Introductory
lecturer by 'TRAILBLAZER' on job prospects was arranged on 2nd
July2005.
Lecturer on career guidance by Mr.
Kiran Jog was arranged on 4th July 2005. Students from T. Y. B.
Sc. attended the lecture in large number. English speaking course
was conducted after the first term examination.
Lecture on Career Guidance by Leigan
& Weigh College was arranged on December 14,2005.
Campus interviews were arranged.
Through Staff Academy we arrange send off functions.
This year the function was organized for giving send off for retiring
teachers Mrs. M.C. Pandit and Mrs. S.M. Menon. On the same occasion
well-known poet Dr R.M. Shejwalkar recited his poems.
Hiking committee arranged the trek to Kondivade Caves on 20th
August 2005. Fifty-six students participated in the trek. It was
raining heavily. Students enjoyed the rain and were thrilled while
crossing the big streams running in the mountains.
we have decided to invite our past
students who have an excellent career as a chief guest for annual
prize distribution function. This year our past student Dr. Sanjay
Deshmukh was a invited as a chief guest for the function which
was held on 20th January 2006.
A programme of poetry presentation
was arranged by our past students association "Anubandha
", on 21st Aug 05. A known poet Shri Ramdas Khare was invited
as guest poet. Our past students Mr. Uday Nirgudkar, Mr. Girish
Tilve, Mr. Gitesh Shinde, Ms Shruti Ankolekar and Mr. Sushil
Samant presented their poems.
Cultural Association had organized
a workshop on Dancing on 1st October 2005. Prof. Ketan Kamble
conducted the workshop. Prof. Ketan Kamble was a student of
B. N. Bandodkar College of Science from F.Y.J.C. to T.Y.B.Sc.
(Botany). He is at present working as a lecturer in Department
of Biotechnology Vikas College Vikhroli, Mumbai.
A series of lectures was arranged
for journalism students, our past student Mr. Uday Nirgudkar
was a speaker for one session.
An additional set of journals
published by Indian Academy of Science, Bangalore is subscribed
from the amount received as donation from past students.
A lecture for non-teaching staff
was arranged through Anubandh. Mrs Sushama Paudawal Librarian
of S.N.D.T. University, spoke on 'How to accommodate with changing
work culture'. Not only the non-teaching staff but many teaching
staff members also attended this lecture.
