V.P.M.'s Polytechnic, Thane, was founded
in the year 1983, by Vidya Prasarak Mandal (VPM), Thane a public
education trust.
Our Visionary, Late Dr. V.N. Bedekar
is one of the founder members of this institute.
V.P.M.'s Polytechnic has successfully
and efficiently churned out skilled technicians from time to time.
The institute is recognized by the
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The
institute offers seven diploma courses, viz. Chemical Engineering,
Electrical Power System, Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation,
Information Technology, Computer Engineering, and Medical Electronics.
The first four diploma programmes are accredited by the National
Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.
It is located on 13.5 acres of creek
land named 'Jnanadweepa' donated by the Government of Maharashtra
along with other institutes of Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Thane.
The four buildings covering a sprawling
area of over 9800 sq.mts. are quite evidential for the sincere approach
towards the provision of skilled hands to the relevant requirements
of industries.Since inception in 1983 and subsequent recognition
by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the institute
has grown firmly in leaps and bounds.
The Polytechnic has contributed to
the development of learning resources and revision of semester pattern
curriculum under the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education
Institute Partnership Project (MIPP).
As part of dissemination of knowledge
and manpower training, the institute has played a key role in organizing
seminars, workshops, short-term courses, national conferences. Achievement
of academic excellence, sharing of scientific and technology knowledge,
imparting technical skills to the student community and induction
of social awareness among youth constitute the objective of the
institute.
We are proud to record that ours is the first Self Financing Polytechnic
in the Mumbai Sub Region to receive Accreditation to four eligible
diploma programmes by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.
for a period of Three year w.e.f. 19th March 2004. the Renewal Proposal
is under active consideration of NBA New Delhi.
