Summary of Ex-students Get-to-gether

 

Madam Kalindi Kolhatkar, the Principal of our school, took the initiation to form the Ex-students Association to fulfill her students desire to be an integral part of the school till eternity. She could materialize her dream only due to the noble guidance and supportive spirit of Dr. Vijay Bedekar, the Chairman of Vidya Prasarak Mandal, on 6th of January'2007.

The selected day marked the span of twenty five long years when the first SSC batch of the school passed out in the year 1982, although the school had started functioning in 1976.

On 6th January,2007 under Madam Kolhatkar and some senior teachers supervision, a general body meeting of ex-students was summoned and a committee of six members was formed. The members of the Committee are Mrs. Manisha Joshi, Mr. Sangram Joshi, Mr. Sukumar Sakhardande, Mr. Gautam Deshmukh, Mr. Sunil Kulkarni, Mr. Upendra Mujumdar. Total enrolled ex-students are more than two hundred and many more to add up as the years roll by.

The first get-together held by the association was in the school's auditorium on 7th July,2007. The students from 1982 batch couldn't make it possible to be in the function made frequent phone calls from Nasik, Pune, Mauritius and U.S.A and patched up for their absence.

The celebration commenced with a welcome speech by Madam Kolhatkar pouring out all her feeling of nostalgia and transporting one and all to the year 1982. She highlighted the school's achievements so far in brief. Mitesh Kulkarni's speech, an ex-student of 1982 batch paid a tribute to those members of the school family whose soul had departed us for the heavenly abode. The most noted were late Madam Roshan Jal Patel, Mrs. Shukla, Mrs. Ranade, Mr. Pathak and Balu Rawade, the school poen.

As the evening matured, each student narrated his/her experience in the school. Both, the teachers and students confessed that those days were the learning period for them when both were growing simultaneously under Madam Roshan Jal Patel's guidance. Lack of facilities never became a hurdle in their path to achieve success. 'Anand Vrunda', school's orchestra led by Mra. Veena Joshi, the music teacher made the evening musical. Ex-student's demand to chant their school prayer "There shall be showers of blessings…." touched all.

The reunion of the students and their teachers summarized as the ex-students felicilated not only their teachers but also the present day teachers who too are the members of the same 'Kul'. They also handed over a best teacher trophy to Madam Kolhatkar, who would also be the permanent member of the committee who would make the honour in future. A dinner for all was organized by the Association.

In their concluding speech they stated that the school's values had endowed them with a good heart and a sound mind to serve humanity and be independent. Sejal Karnik, Principal of school for Spastic and an ex-student, sets an example of it. They acknowledged Emerson's statement, "Not gold but only men can make a nation great & strong." Sau A. K. Joshi English Medium School's march towards its goal is on the galloping stride.
