It give me great pleasure to present before you the report of Gymkhana and sports activities for the year 2011-12.
Gymkhana is one of the major activities of our college. This activity encourages students to develop various skills in various sports under the guidance of the reputed professional coaches and teachers from the gymkhana committee.
The year has been a fruitful year in terms of achievements of our young and zealous students from Degree and Junior College in various sports event in individual and team events at interschool, intercollegiate and interuniversity and open tournaments at district, state and National Levels.
Achievements of Degree College
Athletic :
Dhiraj Mishra of TYBCom. Won gold Medal in triple jump ,Silver medal in long jump at Mumbai University intercollegiate athletic meet held at University sports pavilion ,in the month of Nov 2011.In this athletic meet our college relay team won the silver medal in 4 × 100 mtrs relay .Team members were:

I am pleased to announce our college has won silver medal in “Athletic General Championship Mumbai University”
Dhiraj Mishra represented Mumbai University and won gold medal in triple jump at Ashwamedh Maharashtra State Inter-University competition held at Parbhani from 27th Nov to 2nd Dec -2011.
Badminton :- Our college TYBCOM student Sanket Shirbhate won silver medal in
individual Badminton Championship at Mumbai University inter collegiate Badminton tournament held at sports pavilion , Mumbai – University in the month of Aug - 2011.
He was selected to represent Mumbai – University for All _ India University tournaments at Udaipur and west Zone inter University tournaments at Udaipur in the month of Jan – 2012.
Boxing :- This year our college has started Boxing coaching under the guidance of
Mr. Milan Vaidya who is international Boxing Referee.
Table - Tennis :- Our college Table Tennis team won Bronze - Medal at Mumbai University Inter – Collegiate Table Tennis tournament in the Month of Aug – 2011 held at Mumbai – University sports pavilion .

Kho- Kho :-
Our College Kho – Kho men’s team was qualified from zone – III for Mumbai University Inter-Zonal tournaments held at Alibaug on 17th Nov - 2011
Gymnastic Girls :-
Pranali Mandovkar of FYBCOM won Silver medal , Shruti Ghag of SYA/F secured 5th position in Mumbai-University intercollegiate Gymnastic competition held on 12th Dec-2011 held at Sports Pavilion Mumbai-University .
Pranali Mandovkar and Shruti Ghag were selected to represent Mumbai-University team in All India inter –University competitions held at Amritsar from 4th Jan to 7th Jan 2012.Mumbai University team won third position in the All – India Inter – University Artistic Gymnastic (women ) tournament .
Pranali Mandovkar represented Maharashtra in 37th National sports festival for women 2011 – 2012 organised by sports Authority of India at Patiala and secured 3rd position in team champ event. She also represented Thane district and secured 3rd position and all round 2nd position in the discipline of Gynmnastic Artistic event at Shri Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal Amravati from 12th to 13th Oct. 20111 organised by “Dept of sports and youth service Maharashtra”.
Priyanka Phalke of FYBCOM represented Thane district and won Gold medal in the event Lobo in 70 kg wt group held at Sholapur from 1st to 3rd Oct 2011
Gymnastic Boys:-
Nishad Thakar secured 4th position in Mumbai-University intercollegiate Gymnastic competition held on 12th Dec-2011 held at Sports Pavilion Mumbai-University .
Nishad Thakar was selected to represent Mumbai-University team in All India
inter –University competitions held at Amritsar from 4th Jan to 7th Jan 2012.
Power lifting :-
Rupesh Jadav of FYBCOM won the Bronze medal in Thane dist power lifting competition held at TMC School Thane in the event Ded Lift ,in the wt group 59 kg on 27th Nov 2011 and won Silver medal in the event Junior Bench Press .He won Bronze medal in 32nd Thane Kumar 59kg wt group organized by Thane dist power lifting association.
Chess : For the first time our college had organized inter collegiate Mumbai university zone-III chess tournaments on 3rd ,4th and 5th Aug – 2011. 23 colleges from zone – III had participated in this event
Kabbadi :For the First time our college had organized inter collegiate Mumbai university zone-III Kabbadi tournaments and inter zonal tournaments from 30th Sept to 4th Oct – 2011. Our past student Chattrapati award winner Mrs. Minal Sawant Palande had inaugurated the event . 24 colleges from Zone – III had participated in Zone – III tournaments and 16 colleges participated in Mumbai University Inter – Zonal tournaments . Winners of interzonal tournaments were :-

2nd B.N.N college Bhivandi
3rd Jhun – Jhunwala college Ghatkopar
4th Rizvi College Andheri.
Achievements of Junior College
Athletic Girls
Savani Kabre of XIIth Arts won the Gold medal in 1500 mtrs run and Gold medal 5000 mtrs run and Gold medal in cross country race at thane Dist (TMC) Athletic meet held at Dadoji Konddev Stadium Thane on 19th and 20th Nov. 2011. Savani Kabre also participated in Thane Varsha Marathon in Aug 2011 and secured 8th position in 15km run.She won the silver medal in 1500 mtrs run and silver medal in 5000 mtrs run and secured sixth place in cross country at Mumbai Divisional Athletic meet held at SAI sports complex Kandivali held from 17th to 20th Dec.
Savani Kabre secured 5th place in all the three events 5km run and 1500 mtrs run and cross-country race at Maharashtra state inter junior collegiate Athletic meet held at Satara organized by Director of sports Pune Maharashtra from 17th to 19th Dec.2011.
Krutika Lad of XII comm. Won the Gold medal in 100 mtrs huddles and Gold medal in triple jump at thane dist (TMC) Athletic meet at Dadoji Konddev Stadium on 19th and 20th Nov2011. Krutika Won the silver medal in Tripple Jump and Gold Medal in 100 mtrs Hurdles at Mumbai divisional Athletic meet. She also represented Mumbai division in 100 mtrs hurdles and triple jump for state level athletic meet held at Satara.
Krutika lad won silver medal in 100 mtrs Hurdle at Maharashtra state inter – Junior collegiate Athletic meet held at Satara from 17th to 19th Dec 2011 and is selected to represent Maharashtra for school national competition.
Athletic Boys :
Mithil Waralikar of XIIth com won the gold medal in 5000 mtrs run at thane dist TMC athletic meet and our college won the Gold medal in 4 X 400 mtrs relay at thane dist Athletic meet held at Dadoji Konddev stadium, Thane from 18th to 20th Nov-2011. Team members were…

Best Physique : Mumbai University Inter - Collegiate Best Physique Competition was held on 6th Jan – 2012 at D.T.S.S. College Malad. Our college students pagare sumit kumar of TYBCom secured 5th place in 75 kg wt group, Dahiya Brijesh Ramlotan of FYBA secured 6th place in 60kg weight group and Nimkar Vaibhav Prakash of TYBCom secured 8th place in 75 kg wt group.
Chess Girls:
Roshani shinde of XIIth com won the Gold medal at Thane dist (TMC) Inter junior collegiate chess tournament held at NKT college on 4th Sept -2011
Carrom Boys :
Mithil Waralikar of XIIth com won the Gold medal in Thane Dist. (TMC) Inter-Jr, Collegiate carrom tournament held at Dnyansadhana College Thane on 15th Nov. 2011.
Judo Boys:
Pritesh Gaokar of XIth com won the Gold medal in 71kg weight group at Thane Dist. inter junior collegiate Judo competition held at Sarswati Krida Sankul Naupada Thane on 9th OCT. 2011
Pritesh also won the gold medal at Mumbai divisional judo competition held at Jhunjhunwala college Ghatkopar on 16th Oct. 2011
Pritesh represented Mumbai division in 71kg above weight group for Maharashtra state inter Jr. collegiate Judo competition held at Kudal District Sindhudurg from 21st Oct to 23rd Oct .This competition was organized by Director of sports, Maharashtra Pune.
Karate : Prathamesh Navrange of XIth commerce secured Bronze medal & won Bronze medal in kumite event in 17th international / Asian cup karate championship held at priyadarshini Sports complex Mulund held on 4th and 5th Feb-2012 in katas event .
Prathamesh Navrange won Gold medal in Men’s Kata’s event (age above 14 years), won gold medal in event Demonstration, won Silver medal in event Men’s Kumite (above 14 years) in 1st Open State Karate Championship 2011 organised in the month of Aug-2011 organised by United Budokan Karate Academy affiliated to National Karate Federation of India, has successfully completed sports Karate Black-Belt Training Course.
Kho-kho (Boys):
Our college Kho-Kho boys team are winners of thane Dist (TMC) tournament held at United sports club Thane on 10th Oct. 2011. Our boys Kho-Kho team represented Thane Dist (TMC) for Mumbai divisional Kho-Kho tournament held at Om Samartha Club Dadar(w) on the 17th Nov. 2011.
Football Boys:
Our Junior college football boy’s team won Silver medal at thane dist (TMC) football tournament held at Singhania school at Thane on 28th and 29th Sept. 2011.
Power lifting : Swapnil Gosavi of XIIth Arts represented Thane and secured 1st place in 53kg wt category in sub Junior power lifting Championship held at Aurangabad organized by Maharashtra state power lifting association in the month of Jan – 2012
Taekwondo Boys :
Gururaj Wadkar of XIIth com won the gold medal in 52kg weight group at Thane Dist (TMC) inter junior collegiate competition held at Saraswati School Raboddi

Gururaj Wadkar represented Thane Dist (TMC) in 52kg weight group at Mumbai divisional Taekwondo competition held at SAI sports complex Kandivali Mumbai in Oct. 2011
Badminton Girls.
Our junior college Badminton girls team won the gold medal at Thane dist (TMC) tournaments held at Dadoji Konddev stadium Thane on 8th sept. 2011. Team members are Vallari Bukane of XIth com, Ishani Navathe of XIIth com, Krutika Koli XIth com and Saloni Sonashrabudhe of XIIth com. Our Badminton girls team also represented Thane district (TMC) at Mumbai divisional tournament and won the gold medal. This tournament was held at Goregaon sports club, Mumbai on 16th Oct. 2011. Same team represented Mumbai divisional for Maharashtra state inter-junior-collegiate Badminton tournament held at Latur from 15thNov. to 18th Nov. 2011 and won the gold medal.
Vallari Bukane is winner in the junior girls under 17 doubles and won silver medal in Jr. girls U/17 in 25th Thane district Badminton championship 2011. Hon. Ganeshji Naik trophy organized jointly by Navi Mumbai sports association and Thane city and district Badminton association held at Navi-Mumbai sports association Vashi from 8th to 12th Aug . 2011. In the same tournament she also won Silver medal in the event Jr. girls U/19 singles.
Vallari Bukane was runner-up in girls doubles under 17 inter-district and state badminton championship 2011-2012 held from 15th aug to 20th Aug 2011, tournaments were organized by Ahmendnagar district Badminon association, Ahmednagar. She is a winner of under 19th and under 17th girls at GSC junior state selection Badminton tournament 2011 held from 14th to 17th Sept. 2011 held at Goregaon.
She also represented Maharashtra girls under 19 in all India west zone Inter-state Badminton championship from 24th to 25th Sept 2011 held at Bhopal.
Vallari Bukane was selected to represent Maharashtra for school national Badminton tournament and Maharashtra team won the Gold medal in this tournament held at New Delhi in the month of Jan – 2012.
She also represented Mumbai division woman badminton team for state level tournament .
Mumbai division team won the silver medal in this tournament held at Latur from 1st to 3rd Nov 2011
Vallari represented Maharashtra for national women Badminton and Maharashtra team won the bronze medal in team championship held at Ranchi Jharkhanda from 28th Nov to 1st Dec. Vallari also won the silver medal in doubles events for Maharashtra and she also won the bronze medal in individual championship for Maharashtra .
She received the college Best Sports person award for this year.
Sikei Martial Arts :
Gururaj Wadkar of XIIth com won the gold medal in 46 kg weight group in LOBA age group U/18 (Boys) in 12th SQAY Maharashtra State level Championship -2011 held at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium ,Solapur held from 1st to 3rd Oct. 2011.
Sports Academy: Sports academy of our college had organized :-
- Guest lecture on Sports as carreer by
- Guest lecture on Diet
- Two days adventure training programme (Rappling and River Crossing) on 8th and 9th Dec. under the guidance of Shiv. Chatrapati Award winner Mr. Pradeep Kelkar from outdoor adventure club Thane. More than 100 students participated in this event.

Annual Athletic meet of our college was held on 21st Dec 2011. Participant winning in maximum athletic events are declared as college Athletic Champion.
