GYMKHANA REPORT 2008-2009

This year too has been a fruitful year in terms of achievements of our young and
zealous students from both, Degree and Junior College in various individual and team events at intercollegiate as well as State and National levels.  As the chairperson I am privileged to place before you the Gymkhana Report for the year 2008-09.

Degree College

ATHLETICS - (MEN)

  1. Navin Singh of FYBCOM stood fifth in high jump in Youth National held at Pune in October 2008.  Navin Singh represented India in High Jump and secured fifth (5th) position in Youth Commonwealth Games held at Pune in October 2008.  He stood second (2nd) in Interzonal National held at Jamshedpur.    Navin also represented University of Mumbai in High Jump in Ashwamedh and won the Gold Medal & Silver Medal in All India University.  He also got selected as the representative of University of Mumbai for All India University Competition.
  2. Virendra Yadav of FYBA stood fourth at intercollegiate in long jump and triple jump.

ATHLETICS - (WOMEN)

Divya Kindalkar of SYBCOM (B&I) stood fifth in 800 & 1500 Meters run in intercollegiate at University of Mumbai.

BADMINTON

Sumukh Chavan of SYBCOM and Akshay Sansare of TYBMS were the quarter
finalist at intercollegiate tournament at University of Mumbai.

CRICKET

Our College Cricket team qualified for University of Mumbai Inter Zonal
Tournament.  Our Cricket (Men’s) team winner of Inter Collegiate Tournament organized by Somya College, Mumbai in Dec. 2008.

KABADDI   (MEN)

   Our College Kabaddi team was qualified for University of Mumbai Inter Zonal
Tournament.  Our Kabaddi (Men’s) team also winner of Inter Collegiate Tournament organized by D.Y.Patil College, Navi Mumbai on 16th & 17th January 2009.


SWIMMING   (WOMEN)

          Ms.Samrudhi Patil of SYBCom won Silver Medal in 50 mtrs. Free style.  She stood at fourth position in 100 and 400 mtrs. free style at intercollegiate swimming competition.
She also represented Mumbai University in 50 and 200x4 mtrs free style relay. 

WRESTLING

Pandharinath Dalvi of SYBA won the Bronze Medal in 48 kg weight group at Inter
Collegiate Wrestling Competition. He has won the Gold Medal at district level in 55kg. wt. group.  He has been selected for Maharashtra kesari (State Level) Which will be held at Sangali.

POWER LIFTING 

Mr. Shankar Thevar of TYBCom won the Gold Medal at West Zone Open
Competition and also won the Gold Medal in 90 kg weight group at State Level Competition held at Mumbai on 13th Dec.2008.  He also won the Gold Medal in 90kg. group at Mumbai University and the represented Mumbai University

 

WEIGHT  LIFTING  

Mr. Shankar Thevar won the Gold Medal in 94kg. group at Inter Collegiate
Competition held at DTSS College, Malad on 04th January 2009.

 

POWER LIFTING   (Women)
Ms. Sanchita Gaikar of  TYBA won the Gold Medal in open kg. group at Inter Collegiage competition held at DTSS College, Malad on 04th January 2009.

Judo Sanchita Gaikar of TYBA won the Bronze Medal at Open kg Group at University of Mumbai.KARATE

Pratik Raghunath Patil TYBMS has won the Silver Medal and he  secured Second position at Inter Collegiate Karate Competition which was held at University of Mumbai.

KHO-KHO   (Men )

Our College Team was qualified for University of Mumbai Inter Zonal Tournament.

TENNIS  

Tushar Dhaigude of TYBA was selected to represent University of Mumbai.
Sandeep Dhaigude has won the Gold Medal in Individual Championship at Inter Collegiate Tennis Tournament and represented Mumbai University.

CYCLING  

Vipul Shinde of SYBA stood fifth in 6 km lap race which he crossed in 8.52 min at University of Mumbai.

BEST PHYSIQUE

Vijendra Jaywant Divekar of FYBA stood third in Thaneshree ( 2008-09)  in
the Body building Competition.
Amit Tripathi of TYBA won the Silver Medal in 85kg. group in best Physique at Inter Collegiage competition held at DTSS College, Malad on 04th January 2009.  Selected to represent University of Mumbai.
Shankar Thever of TYBCom. Won the Gold Medal in 90kg. group in best Physique and represented Mumbai University.

Junior College

ATHLETICS   (BOYS)

Mr.Dhiraj Mishra, represented India in triple jump and won the Gold Medal for India at Youth Commonwealth Games held at Pune in October 2008.  Mr.Dhiraj Mishra also stood first at Youth National held at Pune (National New Records).  He also stood first at Federation Cup National and West Zone, both held at Pune. He also stood fifth at Junior Asian Games held at Jakarta
Dhiraj won the Silver Medal at Junior National held at Mysore.  For last three years he has been the Maharashtra Team Captain for the Competitions.  He has bagged the Best Player Award twice.   His achievements are really commendable.
Dhiraj represented Maharashtra in Triple Jump and won the Gold Medal with performance of 15-50 meter making a new National record I National School games held at Ernakulam in Kerla from 7th to 11th January 2009.

A team of Omkar Khade, Siddhesh Khade, Rupesh Koli, Viren Gaikwad and Vikas
Mande stood first at 4 x 100 mtr. Relay competition.
Omkar Khade stood second in 100 mtr. run.
Siddhesh Khade stood first in 200 mtrs. run and first in discus throw.
Ajinkya Mauli won the Gold Medal in Long Junp and Bronze Medal in high jump at Thane District Inter Junior Collegiate Athletic Meet.

 

ATHLETICS   (Girls)

Nilima Kindalkar stood first in 400 mtrs and second in 800 mtrs run at Taluka and
District Level.

KHO-KHO   (BOYS)

Our College team won the Thane Taluka Inter Junior Collegiate Tournament held
at Shiv Samarth Vidyalay, Thane in Sept.2008 and were the winner at Thane District inter junior collegiate kho-kho tournament held at our College in October 2008.

 

KHO-KHO  (GIRLS)

Our College Girls Team won the Taluka inter junior collegiate tournament held at
Shiv Samarth Vidyalay, Thane.

 

KARATE  (GIRLS)

Sampada Raut of XIIth Com. Won the Gold Medal in 38 kg group at Thane
District inter junior collegiate held at Saraswati Vidyalaya, Rabodi, Thane.   Sampada won the Gold Medal in Jijitsu event that was organized in district level by Hari Om Martial Arts on behalf of Thane Dist.Sports Office Rabodi, Thane on 21.12.2008.
Manali Deshpande of XIIth Com. Won the silver medal in 60 kg group in Karate
at Thane inter junior collegiate competition.

KARATE  (Boys)

Kanad Meshram of XIIth Com. Won the Silver Medal at Thane district SQAY
Marshal Arts held at Thane.  He also won the Bronze Medal at Mumbai division held at Wadala.
He also participated in the karate Budokan international World Championship held in
Thane in November 2008.

          Ankush Narayan Pawar ( FYJC Arts ) won Silver Medal in Jujitsu event and also won Bronze Medal in Kata event organized on district level by Hari Om Martial Arts on behalf of the Thane district Sports Office, Rabodi at Thane.

 

Judo  (Boys)

Mangesh Yadav, XII th Com. Won the Gold Medal in 65 kg group at Thane
District inter Jr.Collegiate Judo Competition held at K.D.M.C. Hall, Dombivali.

He also won the Bronze medal at Mumbai Division held at Bhartiya Krida
Pradhikarn Kandivali, Mumbai in Nov.2008

TAEKWONDO  

Manali Shinde of XIIth Com. Won the Gold Medal in Heavy weight group at
Thane District tackwondo Competition held at Khamkar Vidyalay Badlapur in Sept. 2008.

Dnyanda Limaye of XIIth Com. Also won the Gold Medal in light weight kg
group in the above mentioned tournament.

In the Mumbai Zonal Tackwondo Competition Manali Shinde won the Silver
Medal and Dnyanda Limaye won the Bronze Medal.  This competition was held at Karnala Sports Academy, Panvel on 30th Sept.2008.

 

CARROM  (Boys)

Surendra Inerkar of XIth Com. Won the Thane District inter junior collegiate

Carrom Competition held at A.V.Vartak College, Vasai and also won the Gold Medal at Mumbai division Competition held at J.S.M. College, Alibag on 18th Dec.2008.

 

LAWN TENNIS  

Chinmay Agharkar of XIIth Com. Was selected to represent Mumbai Division at

State Level inter junior collegiate tournament held at Aurangabad in 2008.

 

POWER LIFTING  

Rakesh Kamble of 12th Arts represented Maharashtra in Power Lifting in 65.5kg. 
group participate at West Zone India Power Lifting competition held at Mountabu, Rajasthan in August 2008.

 

 

 

 

ANNUAL SPORTS :-

 

 The college Annual Athletics meet was held on 22nd December 2008.

Guru has always played the significant role in moulding and training the student since
ancient times.  Similarly inspiration and continuous guidance of our experienced coaches in various fields of sports was instrumental in the success of our sportsmen and sportswomen in their respective sports events.  On behalf of the college, I am sincerely grateful to our coaches.

SPORTS ACADEMY

As a part of mission to develop over all personality of the students, Sports plays
an immense role, sports not only develop good physique but also nourishes the team spirit which is equally important from management point view.  Sports Academy includes providing upto date Gym. for students, arranging lectures on importance of exercises, Yoga, team spirit, organizing intercollegiate and inter university sports events etc. to promote sports talent amongst the students.
